I am certain most of us have heard the term “I believe it when I see it!” and admittedly I have used this phrase more than a dozen times. I agree it is wise to be inquisitive and investigate things before we believe everything we are told… however ponder this…does this only bring a degree of cynicism into our lives when perhaps faith is really what we need?
I look over the past 13 years I have been in business…most of which I have had to work around being pregnant, having babies, moving house x6 times and raising five children…and last but not least …the dynamics of marriage. The shape of the business has changed at least x5-6 times but all in all it has been the primary income generator for our family. That is a lot of commitment!
If someone said to me –‘well, you are crazy and there’s no way you can have a successful marriage, family and business – I will believe it when I see it!
Do you think that comment would be helpful to my future success? Definitely not.
The other day I had a meeting with a great salesperson who was surprised when I said I was adding another layer of workload to my schedule…he was truly amazed …and instead of commenting negatively – he asked a genuine question.
“How do you manage all of that?”
Well, the truthful answer is …some days I don’t …some days I am so ratty & snappy at others that I have to go hide in my cave (yes, women have caves too!) and ONLY surface when I have got my ‘head straight’.
And other days – I am bouncing out of bed…mowing our extremely large lawn then some weight training, feed x3 dogs, feed x3 cats and organise the needs of our x5 kids, get myself ready and then off to the Lockwood Show Home to greet some potential clients and other interested parties, then back from Lockwood, buy my son a school bag, take the kids to the beach, get them ice creams, cook dinner, do the washing (and x5 kids is a lot of washing!) before I sit down and take a breath.
And it’s no wonder why my husband and I often get asked…
‘We don’t know how you do it?!’
If at the beginning of this journey I had of said to myself – I will believe it when I see it…then none of what we have accomplished thus far would have been possible. Even staying married may not have happened!
Two years ago when we started INfuzed we had high expectations and hoped for amazing results where we could financially support our family running a business that we love. This didn’t happen straight away. It has been two years of highs and lows, changing of direction to see what will work better and then finding contract work to get the bills paid.
The one consistent thing that I have maintained is that I have to BELIEVE in what I do. Of course there has been times when I have momentarily lost that faith in myself and my business …but sure enough I have the support of my family, friends and business connections that have helped me along the way.
And this is where our INfuzed Business Groups have worked best for our members. We ‘back’ each other 100%. If someone shared their goals and dreams at a meeting …our members immediately respond with encouragement that empowers.
We take the stance of “We BELIEVE it before we see it!
If I could share one of the biggest lessons I have learnt over the 20 years of my sales and business development career it would be this…
DARE TO BELIEVE …and KEEP PESERVERING!
At our next INfuzed Business Group meeting we will be exploring the value of what we SEE currently in our business VERSUS the value of what we BELIEVE for our business.
