One of the most valuable lessons I learnt in my sales training many moons ago was how to ASK!

This is a learned skill that done well can take your business from mediocre to national to multi-national.

To sum up 20 years of sales experience I can categorically say that it wasn’t all the special sales lines or millions of different ways to close a deal that got me great success…it was simply learning how to ASK.

Things like how to ask…

  • a prospective client to meet with you

  • to be introduced to a key contact

  • for feedback from customers

  • for client referrals

  • And lastly …ASK for the sale/order.

Learning and practicing how to ASK others for what you need is not just left to the “salespeople”. It is for everyone to learn.

Why?

When you are able to ask the right questions of the right people at the right time you will then begin to launch your business forward to newer heights that would not otherwise be reachable if you hadn’t ASKED for help.

Which is why I believe we need to consistently recheck ourselves to identify if we have in fact done all the ‘asking’ our business needs us to do.

Some key people you could ASK for help from are:

  • Accountants

  • Lawyers

  • Credit Managers

  • Business Mentors

  • Administrators

  • Book keepers

  • Online marketers

  • Other business owners…

I have purposely highlighted the last because when you surround yourself with like-minded business people you can learn from them and be empowered to take the first step to the NEXT level for your business.

I can see the great value in collaborating with others to strengthen your business. This begns when you develop the courage to ASK.

The worst that can happen is they say no, maybe or not right now. The best that can happen is they say YES.

If we look at this close enough doing good business isn’t just about being the BEST, the CHEAPEST or selling the most…there has got to be a layer of initiative that dares to overcome the KIWI tendency of being overly polite…and just simply ASK!

And remember when you ASK you are leading yourself to a greater education of all the possible options you have for your business.

So this being said I will leave you to ASK yourself one last question…

What do I need to do to become an expert at how to ASK, SEARCH and take more ACTION for my business?

Let’s all decide to become DECTECTIVES for our business –investigating our way through to a successfully growing and sustaining business.

CHOOSE to leave no stone un-turned so at the end of your day, week, month or year you know that you have done everything you can to reach your business goals.

Please feel free to comment or share our blog with others to help equip them in becoming better at asking.

OR

What story can you share with us that shows the impact that ASKING has had for your business?
